Mrs. Debor is a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising. After a successful business career during which she became the youngest Buyer for a department store chain, managing design, supply chain, and merchandising for 53 stores throughout the Midwest, Mrs. Debor felt God’s calling to homeschool her own children in 2005.
Since that time she has devoted her energy, diligence, and tenacity into researching and implementing inventive homeschool methods, identifying and evaluating appropriate curricula that reinforce a Christian worldview, and mentoring new homeschool moms. She held numerous active roles in a variety of Katy area homeschool associations and educational cooperatives, often answering the call to lead as a founder or initiating leader. She is a strong, long-term advocate for Classical Christian homeschooling.
Mrs. Debor's love of numbers and organization translates to the world of Classical Education as a love of Logic, which extends into Math and the Sciences as well. In addition to being one of the original six trailblazing families that founded KCA, she has led the Logic and Math teams. Rational, logical thought and problem solving, as encouraged via Mathematics and the Sciences, is the foundation of Classical Education. It is logic that allows students to consider thoughtfully the ideas they encounter when studying classical history and literature, and leads them to formulate their own ideas and opinions about the classics and in turn their own worldview.
The freedom to let the Holy Spirit work in the context of Christian community has captivated Mrs. Debor from the beginning with regard to homeschooling and Classical Education. Her goal is to share and cultivate that same love in the students and families of KCA, so that the name of Jesus Christ may be glorified.
