Lauren Hicks
History Team Lead, Upper School
Lauren Hicks is a graduate of Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (English/History), and of the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a Master's in Library and Information Science. She taught in public schools for seven years before becoming a school librarian. After four years as a librarian and receiving the KISD Librarian of the Year award in 2021, God began tugging at her heart to homeschool her two girls, Sadie and Addie. After much prayer and taking a leap of faith with her husband, Cody, she joined KCA as a teacher in 2022.
Lauren finds passion in studying and teaching history chronologically through a Biblical worldview. God is seen all throughout history redeeming, protecting, strengthening, guiding, and delivering justice. God has been, currently is, and will always be in control, and Lauren enjoys guiding students to recognize this, as well as engaging them in deep, Socratic discussions that challenge them to form opinions grounded in an understanding of history and rooted in Biblical truth.
When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two girls, thrift shopping, reading, playing board games, and visiting museums. Lauren joyfully serves at Central Baptist Church, which is the church she has attended since she was five years old.
