Mrs. Debor

Math Lead
Mrs. Debor is a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Merchandising. After a successful business career during which she became the youngest Buyer for a department store chain, managing design, supply chain, and merchandising for 53 stores throughout the Midwest, Mrs. Debor was called in 1999 to become a Stay-At-Home Mom.
Between her oldest child’s second- and third-grade years in public school, Mrs. Debor was moved to take up the mantle of Homeschool Mom. Since then she has poured every ounce of her effort and tenacity into researching and implementing inventive homeschool methods, identifying and evaluating appropriate curricula that reinforce a Christian worldview, and recruiting and mentoring new homeschool moms. Prior to founding KCA with Mrs. Mills, she held numerous active roles in a variety of Katy area homeschool associations and educational cooperatives, in many instances as a founder or initiating leader. She is a strong, long-term advocate for classical-based homeschooling.
Mrs. Debor's love of numbers and organization translates to the world of Classical Education as a love of Logic, which extends into Math and the Sciences as well. She has led Logic instruction at KCA since 2016, and Math at various levels since 2012. Rational, logical thought and problem solving, as encouraged via Mathematics and the Sciences, is the foundation of Classical Education. It is logic that allows students to consider thoughtfully the ideas they encounter when studying classical history and literature, and leads them to formulate their own ideas and opinions about the classics and in turn their own worldview.
The freedom to let the Holy Spirit work in the context of Christian community has captivated Mrs. Debor from the beginning with regard to homeschooling and Classical Education. Her goal is to share and cultivate that same love in the students and families of KCA, so that the name of Jesus Christ may be glorified.
