Kim Gilcrease,
Math Upper School

A native Texan, Mrs. Gilcrease earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University before completing her Master of Occupational Therapy at Texas Woman’s University. She began her career in rehabilitation, working with children with special needs to help them develop greater independence and success in the classroom. She later transitioned from public education to focus on raising and homeschooling her family.

For more than two decades, Mrs. Gilcrease has been deeply invested in home education, including three years living in Perth, Australia, where her family continued their homeschooling journey. She also taught in a variety of homeschool programs before joining the Katy Classical Academy community in 2019 and becoming a member of the faculty in 2023.

Mrs. Gilcrease has had a lifelong love of mathematics and is passionate about helping students develop both confidence and joy in the subject. She seeks to cultivate deep understanding while encouraging students to recognize the order, beauty, and consistency of God’s creation as reflected in mathematics.

Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Gilcrease has faithfully served in student ministry at her church for many years. She enjoys cooking and baking, staying active through exercise, creating art, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and spending time with her family.
